These are a selection of images from the wide range of teaching and faciliatation I have done alongside and in conjunction with my creative practice. Holding spaces for others to explore and express their own creativity is a huge part of why I make and continue to engage in community spaces, I find it vital to maintain this sense of integration in the world not only to sustain my own making but my wellbeing as I am so enriched by this act of sharing. I have worked within formal education, arts institutions and community settings from toddlers to Masters Level including UAL, Kingston University, Barbican, London Transport Museum, Bound Art Bookfair, MMU, Women in Media Conference Manchester, UWE, Bath Spa University, My Yard, Glastonbury Festival, School of The Damned and Royal Society of Photography. My full CV is available on my about page.
This book is a record of a project I was involved in as a facilitator and creative producer, with a team of people from industry working to support the group My Yard on the Grange Farm estate. We worked with the young people in hosting creative workshops on the estate, of which were documented by the residents on disposable and medium format cameras. We then supported the process of making and collating a book, of which each stage was led by the community. It felt particularly emotional for myself to be involved in this as I grew up on estates in inner city London, of which one was also demolished and gradually broken down both in rubble and in community. The project recieved a range of press from Dazed, The Independent, It’s Nice That and more. It was stocked at The Photographer’s Gallery and some of the young people from the estate were able to meet different industry members and gain experience and paid work in creative roles. Most importantly, it remains a defiant and beautiful record of the love and care within working class communities and it was a complete honour to be a part of this project. Copies of the book can be purchased here and all money goes back into supporting those still on the estate: https://myyardchangemakers.org/products/grange-farm-book
